how low is too low
« on: May 29, 2007, 04:11:10 pm »
i am currently building a 79 silverado.  I am thinking of going with a 3/5 drop as this should not bee too low for a daily driver.  My question is will i still be able to control a boat trailer with the truck this low.  i know everyone says you can "tow" it just fine but i want to know how it will handle.  i have driven an s-10 "towing" a trailer and it was more the other way around.  Anyone got any inputs on this setup?

With spindles and a flip kit it will handle the same as it did without the drop...if not better.  I wouldn't worry about it one bit.  If the truck squats too much with the flip kit, get some helper bags for the rear and you'll be all set.

I used to tow a car trailer with my 84 that had a flip kit. I only bottomed out once on a real bad road going to fast. It did squat a bit but I never had anything heavier than my sister's Nissan truck on the trailer. A boat should be no problem.

As long as the springs themselves dont move you have the same space as stock. All you are doing in a flip is moving the axle to the top of the springs.
