I had to sell my last bike almost 5 years ago now after spending every dime I had buying a house, I guess it was a logical move but I miss riding bad. I was a Harley person all my life hanging out with REAL Harley guys. I used to go to Daytona bike week every year with my Harley buddies. All these wanna be yuppies around here with their orange county overpriced bikes that they never even worked on them self that only ride from bar to bar bragging did me in. I've always been a performance oriented person and no offense to you Harley guys (nice bike by the way Vile) but they are the most basic motors out there.
I owned a early Suzuki 1150 that was set up for the drags (but horrible around corners), A 95 Yamaha FZR1000 that I was hit on, totalled the bike, broke my scapula (but I lived) and took over 6 months to use my arm again and finally my favorite, my 2001 Honda CBR 929 RR that I had to sell.
I also had several people in a short period of time that was killed on bikes and I don't enjoy sitting in traffic doing 35-40 mph everywhere I go on a hyper bike that will do 100 in 1st gear with 5 more to go. I plan on getting another 929 in the future.

i know what you mean about the pretty boys driving around on there "choppers". not a lot of people may agree with me here, but i think a bike like mine is a real chopper. something original and different that someone has put there own time and style into

Unique is cool, and the work you do to it make it real. My buddy has a '58 sportster with a stroked and bored motor (kick start only of course) that I helped fix up on a budget and I've never seen another like it as nice. I'm not a sportster person but I love his. I can't afford to keep up with the Harley parts, for the same money I could build a wild car, its ridiculous how much change these guys have into their bikes.

Having something to ride is more important than what your riding, especially when your young. Get some good riding time in and get a nicer bike later when your more experienced and can afford one. Insurance is no joke for you young guys on bikes, you guys are the biggest risk out there. Ride smart and keep the ego's at home. Its good your having fun fixing up your bike.
