i just got done reading this entire thread and i was so happy!!! untill that dreadful oil pump pickup decided to take a shoot..
right now im just amazed by your skills in this department.. i know how to rebuild an engine but you straight up shoot and get when it comes to doing so.. i wouldnt have enough time to do that in the amount of time you are..
keep up the great work and keep us advised..
btw i love the truck man.

Thanks!
I just got done adjusting the valves. Tomorrow I will finish it hopefully except for the oil pan since I ordered a new one. I noticed the chrome is peeling inside the pan. Piece of crap so I ordered a powder coated one this time. Here's a few pix I took with my pathetic sony camera.

Much more expensive. Just go to like summit racing and select all of your parts and then look at your cart. There is no comparisson between small block and big block power though. It's a completely different animal. I wouldn't want a bb for a daily driver mainly because they suck down fuel like it's beer but for a toy
Machine shop work will cost you about the same but parts are much more expensive.

First start no coolant in the block. Not good lol
Mine sounds pretty wicked, I will definitely take video's.
So I got the headers back $250 to get them stripped and recoated inside and out.
Now I'm debating (with myself) which valve covers to run.
A)
or B)

B no question.
A looks like the cheap spectre valve covers from the 'zone compared to B.

B looks a LOT nicer, though A isn't bad...I vote B. Detail work is awesome

I like B too. But Vile, isn't starting an engine with no water/coolant in it provide a better seal with all the gaskets? I'm sure those guys know what they're doing and they wouldn't run it too long like that.

A better seal? I would never run an engine that long with no coolant in it. I would assume though they probably filled the block at least.
Also both of those vc's are polished aluminum. I'll let you guys decide for me how's that?
