Will a 78 body mount to a '82 frame?
« on: September 09, 2007, 12:39:34 pm »
Hey guys, I am Josh and am new to the site. I have a new project- my wife is thrilled!! I found a 78 chevy truck, half ton, 2wd, long bed, 350-350. I really want it to be 4 wheel drive. The truck has been garaged and the body is absolutely perfect. So, I found an '82 4wd longbed chevy 3/4 ton truck frame in my buddies junkyard (I'm thinking he'll be really helpful on this project) My question is- will the body from my '78 2wd pickup mate up to the frame of the '82 3/4 ton longbed? I know I need running gear, steering setup, all that. I have parts, lots of them at my fingertips. If it will work, I was thinking I'll use the 2wd truck as runner until I get the 4wd frame ready, then swap the body onto the 4wd frame. I don't want to get started if it won't mate up. Could somebody tell me? Thanks, Josh

Yes they will bolt up fine.  You MUST use the body bushing specific to the frame not the body.
