E-coat?

What is E-Coat and how can I apply it? What would be a good rattle can primer from DupliColor I could use to run around town for a few years without having to worry about it looking like crap. I bought some cheap dollar general stuff a few years back on a 77 c10 I had and it looked good through rain, sleet, and snow. Never had an issue with it, but now they don't carry it anymore. It had a bluish tint to it at nite. I need something I can run around with until I have the body work straightened out and then the paint job money saved up.

E-coat is Electrodeposition.  It is a process that the part is perfectly cleaned usually a 7 stage cleaner/pretreat that goes through a bath (dipped) and the part is charged and the paint particles attract to the metal.  Time and voltage as well as the chemistry all have to line up.  Then the part is rinsed and then baked.  E-coat is a very costly setup and I have only seen one line up in Iowa that does work for John Deere.  Krylon makes a good metal primer that should do the trick for you in a rattle can.  Sherwin-Williams have aerosols as well.

Has anyone on the board used the PaintShop system from DupliColor on any project? It's a different retro 3-step lacquer paint system.

I haven't used lacquer in about 16 or 17 years and never will again. It a whole lot of work and a whole lot of maintenance over the life of the paint job. Not to mention its illegal in allot of states now.
