Well I pulled out a L8000 Ford dump truck today with my 79 K30. He backed up to dump a load of 12' to 14' cord wood. His left rear tire broke through and old steel septic tank. Front right tire was just about off the ground.

Well as I shut the computer down from my reply, I was letting the dogs out and a guy I know from town went off the road, hit a stone wall and flipped his 98 Honda Accord over right on the state road. I live about 100' from the state road on a town road. he skidded about 100' on his roof and stopped right at the end of the road I live on. I ran down he got out and said he was good. another guy stopped, we called the cops. State police came, made out a report. I told the cop I would flip it back over and drag it to my house to save him the tow bill. He said go for it if you think you can. I told him no problem. Hoked my 79 K30 to it dragged it off into the dirt, hooked the chain around the steering wheel and flopped it back on all fours. Hooked up to the front suspension, and dragged it up into my yard. He said " you have done this before haven't you? " I said yeah quite a few times! he said " why did you drag it to the dirt first? " I had to get it in the dirt cause it would have just slid on its top on the pavement, needed the traction on the roof.
So 2:00 Am I just got done sweeping glass out of the road, picking up Honda parts, and giving him a ride home!
My truck earned its keep this weekend!

wow, sounds like a fun day (well, not for your pal, but for you...). i love recovering stuck rigs/disabled vehicles...i drove a 10-ton wrecker in the Army for about 5 years and my uncle has a towing service that specializes in off-road recovery...i use to love going on recovery missions with him...

Ran a wrecker and a flatbed years back when I was first starting out in the trade at the local Ford dealer.

Only problem was the sling wrecker was a pile of you know what too. The F600 sling / wheel lift, and the ramp truck were nice.
