If the block has provisions for side mount motor mounts they will fit no exceptions.
There are only two types of small block mounts, side mount like these trucks run, or front mounts that bolt on either side of the harmonic balancer, and work in conjunction with bell housing mounts on either side of the bell housing.

If you are saying one side in quite reaching, you need to lift it back up and put one side in then the other.  Is it possible that you are sitting on top of the motor mount binding it?  If the motor mounts you took off the original motor are on the new one it will go right back in.  All Gen I SBC's are indentical from 1955-1993

Use the mounts that were on the 305. They will fit the 327.

The blocks are identical, but some of the early ones 50s 265s and some 283s did not have side mount motor mount bolt holes. Your 327 has them as it is new enough.

There are different " clam shell " brackets for different cars/trucks. The ones from my 79 didn't fit in my 76 but they all bolt up the same to the engine. I put the wrong ones on by mistake and the holes for the long bolts to slide thru were spaced wrong.

Correct, then engine clamshells are different for different vehicles.  But if you pulled a motor out of a truck and removed them you can put them on any SBC (that has the mouting holes) and it will work in the vehicle, from any V8 starting at 267 SBC up to a 454 BBC

OK so i did some measuring and th 68 c10's 327 did seem to not fit cuz it seemed to wide for my 84ish k10 (block wise) it turns out that the custom mounts i did need and like right away at the time are hard to get a hold of but they do make them. i went to a chevy-ship to talk to them about this. they said blocks changed and were different from 71 to 85. they all stayed relatively the same but there were little differences like the 3 holes on the newer block were moved down to give more motor clearance which made them closer together so i had a "wide" one trying to go in a "narrow" spot... i meashued its true the blocks also have different shapes in diffrent places so i drilled some new holes at a friends house in the 305 mounts to make them fit and wa-la they fit I'm going to collage for welding and machining! thought you should know  8)

The frame to mount setup is different for the late 60's trucks. The frames are entirely different. All the small blocks share the same 3 holes on the sides of the block EXCEPT the OLD stuff that used the 2 per side holes by the balancer. My buddy's 69 is much different than my 79 and we're both running 350's. Go to your local auto parts and look at their motor mount book....Anchor Doan, Sealed Power, TRW all have pics in the back of the book. I've used those catalogs a million times in my 20+ years in the parts biz.

as long as you use the 84 mounts it will fit.
