overhead console

New member! 

Working on a 90 cc dually.  have access on another forum to an overhead console from an 89 sub and before i put everyone out getting this thing shipped to me, i kinda need some idea of how this thing goes into the truck.  To date, i haven't seen one in person to even have a clue.

will i need to cut the headliner board to make it fit and what holds it up?

MAKE SURE YOU GET THE MOUNTING BRACKET FOR IT THAT'S RIVETED TO THE ROOF OF THE 'BURB AND YES YOU WILL HAVE TO CUT THE HEADLINER.

The one I removed from a donor Burb for mine was bolted to the ceiling.  I can get you some pictures tomorrow.  To put it in you need to mark it and put some nutserts in for it would bolt in.  And the headliner will need to be cut for the bracket.  The console slides and locks into place over it.

sounds like a decent amount of work.  were you able to cut the headliner board with a razor knife and were youable to do it installed in the truck or did you pull it out.

is it worth the hassle?  do you actually use the console for anything or is it cosmetic fluff.

I just got it from the burb about a week agoso it isn't installed yet.  I am trying to find all the pieces to put up a headliner as mine didn't have it.
I don't think it will be too much trouble, but there will be a post on it detailing what I did to get it in there.

Here is a picture of the console I removed from the suburban.  The Blue areas are where the console mounts to the black roof bracket, the red areas are where the roof bracket bolts to the roof.
