Has anyone installed a Vintage Air system in their truck?  Looking for simple description of how easy or difficult it was, and if the performance of the system is close to factory AC performance.

I put the vintage air sure fit kit in my 75 factory air  truck. its pretty strait forward,  I had some help from a buddy who was more familier with it. it works awesome, except for some reason ( may have been installation error) the setting for defrost comes out the dash vents, & the setting for a.c. comes out the defrost vents, im going to look into that, but it blows nice & cold. I've got a '90 Burban I'd like to put one in as well. And was curious as to what all comes with the kit (i.e. compressor? evpaorator? condensor? controls?) and what the price is of it as I can't find any prices online anywheres.

 they have a sure fit kit for 73-87. go to there website, shows everything included

 i've been using their directions. i took the ac parts outta a wrecked 80 silverado and am swapping them all over. biggest issue is the firewall. cut a new hole, and weld the old one for the non ac closed.

I actually took the air out of an 86 3/4 ton BB and put it into my 85 1/2 ton 350 SB that never had air. Took some time and money, but all being said and done, I think It's a better system overall, and also looks better.

Other than take your time, no issues at all.  It's a lot of work but its worth it in the end!

If you get all the pieces for a donor it will work, you just have to mod the firewall as the non-AC vs AC truck firewalls are different.
I also know people that have used the sure-fit and they like it also.

already got that cut, and ready to go. just need to weld a patch over the old hole. i donj't weld, so again, i'm wating. other than that, i placed everything in , made sure it all lined up, it fits right in pretty much. the wiring is a little intimidating cause i never have once been any good at running wires for anything....
