Q-Jet Identification?
« on: December 16, 2007, 09:47:50 pm »
I know it's a long shot.....but does anyone here know a lot about identifying Quadrajets?  I'm trying to find out if the carb on my 80 C10 is teh correct one for the year/model.  The thing is....I can't find a number stamped on the casting.  If memory serves me right....they were usually stamped on the driverside just above the linkage for the secondaries.  Anyone know of an alternative place for the stamping.  Didn't the originals from the 60s have the stamping in an alternative location?

Thanks,

T.J.

try lookin through all this...that should tell ya all you need to know...but i'll warn ya, it may not be accurate.  not that IT'S not accurate, but GM isn't.  i got my truck from it's original owner, and he's told me that my carb is ORIGINAL, with one rebuild.  a rebuild, but the SAME carb (he watched the guy do it)...but running my numbers, my carb comes back as a 1979.  my truck is a 1983.  so GM used the parts on different years than they might have been made for...sometimes...
