will a rear end out of a 70's to early 80's car like camaro fit in 86 swb truck ?
1986 sb 406 ci
2003 mud buggy 1300 hp 528
if my wife askes it was only fifteen bucks

As in bolt in?  No.  Plus the bolt pattern won't be the same.  The spring perches will be off also and depending on the donor the flange to flange distance could be different.

If I remember correct a Camaro of that vintage the backing plate to backing plate measurement is about 53". A Malibu or same size is around 56 or 57". Its been a few years but I remember going through checking them to see if one or the other would fit in my 55.

Trucks were 62.5 flange to flange if I remember correctly.

67.5 for SRW.  ;)


You can see the different widths near the bottom of the 14 bolt bible from Pirate 4x4.   14 bolts can be found for a dime a dozen and are nearly bomb proof(Nuclear bomb)  I would find one of those and never worry about the rear end again.

okay i took rear end apart , orderd gears, but the splines on the axels are buggered. so i need new axels ,are the 30 slines stonger ?, and what do  you think of power trax lockers ?
