My 79 Shortwide

It's getting there. Made the exhaust, put on the Patriot Clipster headers, the Powermaster starter, more pieces of the serpentine system, the GMPP water pump, Wysco 65000 volt distributor, swivel water neck, Jegs tranny crossmember and Auto Meter braided steel oil pressure hose. Also changed out the chrome 10 inch Chevrolet air filter for the 14x6 Summit with reuseable element. My goal for the truck to be finished is July for the TEXAS HEATWAVE SHOW. It's alot to finish in 7 months.
Thanx for letting me share my progress. I don't know it all and learning alot as I go, but, if I can help anyone or answer a question that might make someone's project go easier, let me know. Lot's of trial and eror.
Happy New Year Everyone !

It's a TH350. I had a it set up with extra Red Alto clutches and steels and a Stage 2 shift kit running a Hughes 2500 stall that I hope is enough. The rearend is a 12 bolt with an Eaton 3.73 posi. The crossmember is a Jegs universal. You have to cut it down to fit, weld on the tabs to the frame and the tranny mount pad to the crossmember. It's number 550-40107.

Your exhaust setup looks real smooth and well thought-out. And that motor is looking pretty slick too. Nice job.

Thanx for the compliments! Still undecided on the exterior color (s). I'd love black but the body has to be PERFECT and I'm no body man. Might go silver or silver and black. Even thought of a white lower and silver upper. Any opinions? I need a computer program that will let me play with color choices......anyone know of one? The interior will be black carpet, probably black leather buckets with gray inserts in cloth. Mostly stock appearance otherwise. Autometer Ultralite gauges, B&M shifter and MAYBE a custom console.
Believe it or not, part of the exhaust (the mandrel bent pieces) are cut from new Saturn Sky cars. They're stainless 2 1/2 pipe on those cars. Customers upgrade their exhaust to the performance package and they scrap the original system. So, I got them and used the bent pieces. Took some cutting but it worked outr well. The H pipe is a Flowmaster kit and the mufflers are obvioulsy Flows. Haven't decided on any type of turndowns or tips. Have to wait til I fire it up.

I finally made my Taylor wires and added the holders/seperators. I still need more seperators to put on close to the distributor to make it neater. And I got the power steering pump and hoses to work. So, it's mounted. Alternator is next. Wanting a 140A single wire. Might make a vacuum line for the tranny modulator to the carb today out of metal brake line. I'm planning to bend one up and secure it so it looks nice. Plans in the near future are to mount the battery along the back side on the frame (inboard) with a drop out battery box, then run the cables.

That motor is awesome! I can't believe how clean everything is...and I love the labels on the suspension to remind you of what needs to be done.

Those are sweet looking valve covers. Where did you get them from?

Thanx for the compliments. The valve covers came from Jegs. You can get them there or through GMPP (g.m. performance parts--any gm dealer). I think they're gonna be a pain to keep nice though
Trying real hard to make things look nice and neat and make it as simple as possible to work on it when need be.
If only I had more money than time!! I wanted it done for the Texas Heat Wave show in July but I seriously doubt it. Just too much to do still and not enough $$$$$$
I'm accepting donations...........
