Drag springs for our trucks?

Nope, no 20's on here.  I'm running stock rally wheels up front with some dinky 225/60 tires.  I scrapped the ENTIRE A/C system.  No inner fenders, no front bumper, no carpet, no dash, no headliner, plexiglass rear window, no wipers, no windshield squirter system, no gas tanks(cell behind differential). I probably should look into some aluminum wheels rather than the heavy steel ones.

sounds likeyou are on the right path. a set of front runners  would be ideal, but if you drive on the street much, you may wanna get a pair of wider onesfor that.

US Body Source makes the tilt front end.  I have one.  They also make fiberglass hoods in liteweight design.  I haven't gotten one, but if it's anything like the tilt it is good.  I know Harwood fixed their dyes, but UP22's stuff (Unlimited Performace) may be light, but it is CRAP.

I got my Moroso Trick springs today, but I'm not feeling too confident about the install, so I'm gonna have it done at the local tire shop in the morning.  I'm not even sure if these springs will work.  The springs I have in there now are Ground Force 2" drop springs and they are about 5.5" in diameter(installed).  These Moroso springs are 4.75", will that make a difference?  Should I make something to hold them in place....a piece of exhaust tubing welded in the control arm?....I don't know, I read that on another forum.

A good parts store should have a Moog book that will give the dimesions of all the coil springs that Moog sells. That might help. The '81 to '87 trucks are lighter then the '73 to '80 models. I don't know what year yours is.

That looks good hogwild.  I think I'm gonna hold off on the hood for a bit.  I'm getting the springs installed tomarrow and hopefully have my front rollpan welded in the afternoon.  I'll see how the truck feels after that + some tuning.

The diameter of the spring should match what you had before,  They should both the 5.5 diameter.  The spring seats at the top and just sits in the bottom.  Take them out and call them and get the right spring diameter.

So I can't use a spring retainer in there?  I guess I'm gonna have to get custom springs made.  I just didn't want to buy custom springs and then not be able to return them if they don't do what I want them to.  Atleast with these, I can return them if I don't like them.

I guess you can, but there is a pocket that the spring sits in.

The springs put up a good fight, but they eventually went on.  At first I was upset with the stance they gave.  My front end gap was about 2 inches higher than before which made it about 3 inches more than the rear gap.  After getting it home, we were going to set up an appointment to have the springs cut.  But then a day later, after taking my wife for a ride, we noticed that the truck had settled and was now at the stance I wanted.  Here's a pic.

Team, I think it looks good in the front. A couple of my friends have used them in Chevelles & Camaros,ect. Those guys said that those are though to put in due to the length. I'm not sure your wife would like the last sentence in your last post, may want to rethink the wording before you tell all of your buddies. Do you have some more photos posted on here? Lookin' Good! Oops, I didn't realize how that came out.  But it was after that ride, that we noticed that the springs had settled.
