Powder coat is WAAAAY more durable than paint. And it looks awesome!

I think i'm in love! Have you installed the parts? Do they seem more durable than paint (less likely to scratch)?

The ones I showed as build pics are all installed.  The new parts I don't all have back yet am getting ready to install.  Parts seem to turn out way better than paint.  Like my door hinges, flowed into all the areas where paint doesn't and as soon as it's out of the oven it's done.  No dry time.

You wouldn't happen to know the gm numbers on the tank brackets would ya cuz I'd like to look them up.

I scraped the stickers off before I blasted them but I'll look later, I may still have the number.

ok that be good cuz mine suck LOL. I can't find part numbers online but a member here has some, but I wonder what gm wants new for a set.

powder coat is definately more durable then paint, POR-15 is compared to being as tough as powder coat, and we know paint aint tough.

I'd love to have junk powder coated or do it myself cuz I bet it's not cheap to have done, but I have all the stuff to paint at home so it's really cheap.

I don't have the space to do it now, but maybe later on. Small parts arent' a problem, but it would take my entire garage space to put in an oven big enough for a frame.

Picked up the rest of my powder coat today but the project is going to be delayed another week because I gave him a set of nos brand new gm front spring hangers I had too and some other misc parts.  So, I will wait for those before I dig into it.

Unfortunately, I'm on a little tighter budget for my resto project.  For example, I'm thinking of doing a "poor mans" powder coat on my rims, a.k.a. POR-15 (silver).

Has anyone else tried this?

I am currently getting powder coat done for free   I built this truck for the sand dunes.  I don't drive it daily and will never in the winter but I also want to have fun with it.  The entire frame is already powdercoated.  I am replacing some parts I am not happy with.

got all the rest of my powdercoat back and everything is installed now.  Put on new bumpstops all the way around and got my kicker shocks installed.

GM Calls them supports.

how did you get that stuff off your frame like what you got powder coating i think you done it with a big rivet gun to put it back on
