current project
« Reply #15 on: January 29, 2006, 07:17:00 pm »
Right now I'm upgrading my sound sytem with a Pioneer setup. I just bought a small amp to help push the 330 watt 6 x 9's. I like this sound better that subs. I also just finished replacing the front bumper, side marker lights, changed the factory grille with a new billet grille, switched out a dented driver side door, replaced a vent window and handle kit on the same door and sanded and prepped the front end with primer. Under the hood so far I just changed all the plugs, wires, distributer cap, rotor, fuel and air filters. I would like to in the future install an MSD ignition, change out the headers, and go with a holley carb instead of the rochester I currently have. My current project is changing out the bed fender on the drivers side. I may re route the fuel filler, still thinking about it. I'm a novice but learning as I go. I want to do all the work if possible. I have pictures coming soon. Thanks for the board. It's helped tremendously.

I got my battery box mounted, had a friend at work machine out an aluminum battery hold down, as well as ran new battery cables. I mounted my summit aluminum overflow tank where stock battery tray use to be. I will get some pics as soon as I get a chance.

Engine is going into the 78 this evening, it is Chevrolet Red Orange all over.  The frame, fenders, and inner fenders have all been truck bed coated.

I've got my frame painted, and front end replaced.  That's about the time we (meaning my wife) decided I need a truck allowance.:evil  Something about the kids college fund, heck thats 15 years down the road.Oh well, thats why we rathole money in the first place right.  I'm trying to find cheap 89-91 burb to steel parts from, as well as an eaton posi unit, and as soon as my eggs are up for it knock that cab down a bit.  I'll post pics when there's something to take a picture of!

Sending the Kids to College is the least of your problems. Mine are in high school, trust me keeping them away from drug is going to be the biggest problem you will face. If you save money for anything its will before that. If they make it to college then the problem become even more of a problem. Invest you money in a classic by the time the kids are ready for college you sell it make a ton of money. What better way for you to both get what you want. :)

I will let everyone know how it goes. I have a tilt auto column in here right now, but it doesn't flow with the b&m floor shifter.

I pulled my spare cab/chassis in and swapped cabs for the good one and put the older one back on the original chassis.

Here are the pics of the progress for the weekend.

Me to, Look at all that rust. I'm haveing a flash back man thats a lot of cleaning. Reminds me of how much work it was to strip and clean my frame. Wish I could have has the frame dip and striped. You would think thing would not rust in AZ but it not true they do.

Yeah, that truck sat outside in the weather for about 3 years, so it is rusty.

Here is my other frame that the blue cab is not being "stored" on.
