76 stepside tail light wiring harness

Hello all. I am new here let me introduce myself, I am Tony from Paso Robles, CA.

I have a problem with my step side pickup. I am having electrical issues with the rear running lights only. Well before I can really start getting anywhere I really need a new wiring harness. Of course the one I need isn’t being made anymore.

My question is does anyone have any info? I need the frame harness from the firewall to the rear of the truck and I really need the harness for the taillights. I know that the 68-72 step side taillights are the exact same part numbers at   truck as well as the back up lights. Does that mean that the harnesses are the same as well; I can order one for a 72 step side. Even if the frame one is too long or short that can be fixed as long as the plugs are the same.

If anyone can shed any light on this situation let me know. I need to do this first because there are about 15 splices in the tail light wiring right now. The previous owner must have had an electrical connector kit.........

Welcome aboard from New Hampshaa, the other end of the world! The frame harness is the same from fleet sides. As far as i know it is the same from 73 right up through. I do believe it is reproduced. Not sure if Chris carries wire harnesses here but if he doesn't he might have a good source for them. Worst case scenario is you run 1 or 4 new wires all the way back. Just use your end plugs, and stagger the connections so as not to make a huge bunch in the harness. You can buy the correct color code 4 wire harness. any auto parts store will have it for rewiring trailers.
 You should go to the welcome forum and introduce your self. Not every one including my self checks every forum all the time.

the tailite wiring should be the same from 73 to 80;a quick trip to a wrecking yard should turn up an uncut harness ;long box will work;just loop the harness rather than cutting it.....
