Mounting a 6X9 in the dash

I couldn't remember which forum I read where someone asked about mounting a 6X9 in the dash and curiosity got the better of me and decided to give it a try....

Didn't see any way around it, so the dash had to be cut

As you can see from the above posted picture, it is a good idea to be aware of blade depth when cutting the dash.....

It looks like a "Hack job" right now but I'm not done yet.



As you can also see, it is MORE than just a good idea to be aware of all the sharp edges in and around your work area.

This is a piece of metal that I cut down to mount the speaker to.


The next pic is the actual opening that I ended up with. I promise, I'm trying to keep it from looking like a "hack job", but with my "LIMITED" fabrication skills, this is about the best I can do.

First pic here shows the test fit of the piece that I'm going to mount the 6X9 to.

Second pic shows it drilled and screwed in place. It also shows mt calibrated eyeball method needs re-calibrating...

Ouch on the finger!  I can move this to the project page too..

BTW, a 4x10 will fit in the center slot.
