Looking North from the summit of Ragged Mt.
Looking South East toward the sea coast off the back of the mountain. Ski slopes on the right off in the distance are a prep schools private area. All the mountains / hills South, & South East of us are allot lower in elivation. There are higher mountains West South West of us. Can't really see them good from the summit because of forest growth.
Looking North West. Slopes in fore ground are Spear Mountain, part of Ragged.
Looking East. Toward Lake Winnipesaukee, and Mount Chocorua.
Looking North East.
Newfound Lake ( long whiteish flat area in the distance a little to the right ) is about 20 miles from the summit. The mountain almost directly behind that, its hard to see because of the haze and its a pic is Mt. Washington. It is about 80 or so miles from Ragged's summit. Its the tallest peak in the North East. Some of the highest winds speeds in the world ever recorded have been up there. The mountain to the left and closer is Mt. Cardigan. It is only about 10 miles as the crow flies form the summit.

Thanks for sharing your great birthday with us. I wanna hit the slopes so bad!
It is amazing you can see Mt. Washington at a distance of 80 miles, incredible.
I hope you hit some double black diamonds for me
I can't wait til my son gets a little older. Ever notice how young kids learn to ski so fast? They are fearless.
I have fun at the slopes, but, I pay for it a few days later from soreness. You know for years I've been dreaming of the slopes of Stowe, however, I may have to focus on going to Ragged Mt, huh?

Ragged is allot smaller than Stowe. I like it because even on busy days it is not to crowded, it has a good variation of terrain, plus its in my back yard. I learned to ski there, even worked there for a couple winters back in 92 / 93. I ran the triple chair which was a double when I was a kid. It is now a six pack high speed lift. Yesterday was like a little family reunion. There are still about 20 or people that work in the ski school and ski patrol that were there when I ran the lift. Plus a few that have worked there from when I learned to ski 34 years ago. I only went once last year but didn't happen to see anyone I knew. Before last year I hadn't hit the slopes for about 8 years.
