Was the frame twisted from her wrecking it? Reason I ask is I've seen a lot of these trucks with the passengers side rear sitting low which appears to be twisted.

yeah it's like a twizzler. she was drunk when she wrecked it, so i'm taking everytyhing i can salvage and swapping it over and selling what i don't need. i pretty much got my money back and then some for one of the trucks and some extras and still got two sets of wheels a cab and a ton of smaller crap to get rid of that's going up on craigslist again later..

question i have is... how long does it actually TAKE physically to swap over the motor, tranny and ac? not counting the bed and suspension etc... my stepfather is supposed to help but his go kart obessesion has taken over and i'm getting tired of it... but i don't know what i'm doing so i might have to take it to a shop now.

If you have the proper tools and some experience around it could take a weekend. A reputable shop could do it in a day but I would plan on two.

that's what i was told by another mechanic. so the fact that it's sitting here months later is pathetic when it's sitting at a mechanic's house...

guess i'm gonna have to talk to a few shops. we have the tools here but i don't wanna chance damaging wiring when i start taking stuff out. i'm not an idiot i' just dont' know what i'm doing with this stuff. but i could easily help get it done with someone showing me what to do.

I know exactly what you are saying. It took me a little while to learn about these trucks. I think you would be surprised about how easy it is to work on them.

it's intimidating looking at it from my eyes haha. i'm a girl i don't get that greasy. lol... i made sure to drag some covers over all the tuff today everytime it rains lately i just start to cringe thinking about rust growing... i'm gonna get my little brother now that school's out so i have the extra hands there and start with swapping the other bed over first, then tackle trying to get the dead motor outta my 79. that's just getting tossed so i don't care what happens to it on the way out...

haha, i didn't realize you were female...sorry bout that!  looks like a really nice start...is that a Silverado?  if so, that's pretty odd that it has no factory A/C.  it just looks like it has the Silverado package from the "brushed aluminum" trim and the "deluxe" horn button...nice lookin truck though!

ah, it's pretty easy to do...especially if you have small hands for working up in the dash installing that ductwork.  i did it on my old '79 C10...which had a Corvette 327 and a 3-on-the-tree and NO power options, lol

lol tried that. she starts on something and next thing you know she's working in a bikini top, and there's no concentration after that point.

yup. hahahahha. she's actually handy with stuff like this. what she doesn't already know, she has the understanding of. not clutzy or awkward when it comes to working on stuff like this. and the girl can rip apart a computer and diagnose something and have it back up and running in minutes. and plays guitar. word.. lol
