ESC / timing problems-85 C-10
« on: June 19, 2006, 03:57:00 pm »
Hey i just wanted to say thanks to Sgt.Del,roundedline and the rest of you who answer the questions on this forum.Last thursday i stumbled upon the thread about timing problems and the ESC module and how to fix it.sure enough my truck had the module but was running barely good enought to get me to&from work(or so i thought).the very next day my truck quit running or would only go 25mph with the pedal floored and i was only 1/2 way home. well ,pulled to the shoulder, broke out the tools and cut and taped up the green and black wire going to the module.truck started up fine and has been running great since.so- just wanted to say thanx.

Excellent.  You might also throw Mike Ervin's name in there since he wrote the article.. ;)

Man that guy was a good one. Whatever happened to him? I read once where he said he'd stop by from time to time.
(No I don't mean sgt. Del, he's hanging around here all the time)

Just kiddin there, Andy. You know I really do like your posts. :D  I give you a hard time because my son is a cop too, and I see the pressures.

Thanks for the acknowledgement---the job is easy, it's the politics of the high brass that is hard to deal with.  Everyday i see catch-22 scenarios and many coworkers have dealt with them on the bad end.

Last week my son arrested this guy for theft, disorderly, resisting, and drunkeness, the 27th time he's been arrested in the last 2 months. Judge keeps lettin the guy back out on the street- you prolly don't have any like that in Virginia, right? So on the way to jail the guy kicks out the door window and its frame of my son's cruiser. The captain gets p.o'd at my son for it and refuses to get the window and door fixed! Then He says, "You can't charge him with felony vandalism- there's no such a charge!" So of course, the guy's back out there on the street stealin again and my boy's cruiser has a duct taped window. At the police station there's a bunch of extra cop cars not being used. Go figure.

OOps- anyway, didn't mean to hijack the thread, Dctrdoo- glad you got your ESC bypassed successfully. Good advice, huh? Something for all of us to remember.

that is hard to believe---if my sheriff sees dirt on my car, i have to get it washed immediately.  I can't imagine duct tape for a window!! image is everything.  I can just imagine the public complaints---snobby neighborhood people with $500k homes and a duct taped police cruiser going down the road...phone calls..boy oh boy.

That is childish of his supervisors.  There may not be felony vandalism, but the judge can and should order restitution by the criminal--along with 30 days in jail for simple vandalism.

We have had three cars within the last year that got the back windows/door frame kicked out.  These 10-96's (mental subjects) keep wanting to try to get out....we end up hog-tiing them...cuff the leg irons to his handcuffs in the back and lay them down. Then they cry because it is uncomfortable.

Sorry, this is the wrong forum, but i had to comment.
