tryin to get a parts truck
« on: April 23, 2008, 06:59:44 pm »
so I found a 1988 Chevy suburban where i work i work at an auto auction.  The burb has 33's on them I'm trying to get it for around 400-500 dollars it is wrecked but not too bad in the left rear quarter.  It has a lot of good parts on it so I'll see and tell everybody if i win the bid on Fri.  i have  1983 Chevy k10 1/2 4x4 i know the body style is different but I'm just wanting the rims of it and a few other small parts.

You work there and you can bid on the items?  Pretty cool.  I bet you see an awful lot of good stuff coming through there.  If I were in your shoes, I'd have about 6 vehicles in my driveway.....oh, wait, I do anyway.  ;D

Man, between my 65 mustang GT convertible, 90 GMC sub, 79 Big 10, Sheriff's Car, 30 foot camper, wife's Cherokee, wife's Taurus, wow, good thing I don't have any others, I'd have to invest in a parking deck.

well i cant actually bid on themi have to have someone do it for me.  They have to have a dealers license.  But really we see badly wrecked cars more than good ones.  But every once in a while i come across one i would like to have.

the 88 burb has a lot of parts that interchange with the 81-87 pickup. if i were you i would jump on it.

last year i got a running/driving 91 burb at a company auction for $600. i robbed alot of parts off of it and plan on using alot on my 83. everything from the front doors forward should be the same as the truck. but the engine in the 88 burb is going to be fuel injected, but would make a nice swap as far as fuel efficiency goes.
