Finding a topper for my 87 long box

Will pretty much any full size (8 foot) topper fit on my 87 Silverado? The topper I have on it now fits, but looks a tad narrow, so I'm guessing there's a little wiggle room among topper sizes. Anyone have experience with a topper that didn't fit?

later maodel toppers for 88 up chevy's are tapered front to back (they get narrower towards the rear). don't know how much, never was interested in a topper, so never persued the details.
