Thats great that you made it to a really good race Andy, I was starting to wonder if you got this guy, but, thankfully you did. So, I guess you're still cool in my book,as cool as a police man could be at least, JK.

Yeah I had a great time.  I get 6 tickets to every Richmond Nextel Race, but, I sold them all this time to work the pits.  I was assigned one of the TNT pit reporters, Dave Burns.  He was really cool.  I just had to make sure no one got in front of the camera who wasn't supposed to.  We had a lot of down time.  We stayed mainly behind either Kyle Busch's pits or Denny Hamilin's pits.  Snapped over 200 pics w/ my digital camera.

During the prerace ceremonies, I was in the middle of all the drivers...Mark kind of hung around where I was standing for quite a while...he is really cool.  I took some index cards and a sharpie to get a few autographs.  He signed one for me...glad to see he made the chase.

I taped the race and watched it today and low and behold, there I am during the National Anthem that the bare naked ladies were singing, standing there on pit road with my bald head shining in the camera. My three seconds of fame.

I worked Fridays Busch race as well and got soaked in winner's circle when Dave Burns gave Harvick the go ahead to get out of his car for the TV....busch beer and gatorade flying everywhere.

I loved it after the nextel race walking around pit road....Dale Jr. was sitting on the wall with his feet on his cooler full of Bud beer.  He was pounding those babies and the whole crew was throwing the empty cans around his #8 Chevy.  I had him sign a card for my nephew.

Hey Jason, if you really like Mark Martin, email me from my website and I'll send you the pics of him w/out my website name on them.

And to think....they paid me for this fun!!!

I went to the Southern 500 at Darlington back in 2000 with my brother. It was raining a lot that day. There were like 2-3 rain delays and the race was finally was called off because of the rain. He is really into nascar and would not leave. I can't get into it like he does and I was ready to go at the first rain delay. There was no covered bleachers so we looked like drowned rats. Even after they announced that it was over he still sat there like they were just kidding. I seriously thought I was going to see him cry. We drove from Ohio to South Carolina just to watch this race and when they called the race you would have thought his dog died or something. I still remind him of it everytime I see him. His response never changes.

Anyway thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I thought I would share my one and only live nascar experience.

Pretty cool.  I have a plastic oil can from the mid 90's that I had him sign way back then, of course it was a plastic valvoline can.  I had Michael Waltrip sign a pennzoil can (when he drove the pennzoil #30) I had brett bodine sign a Quaker state can when he drove for Kenny Bernstein (now that goes back some time) I had Davey Allison sign a Havoline oil can....boy, i was really into it way back then....guess i still am.

The most favorite of mine is a 1/18th scale die cast model of the #3 car and had Dale Sr. sign that....I wouldnt give that up for nothing...he signed the hood of it and i put it immediately back in the box.

I used to collect 1/18th scale diecast cars (the more common 1/24 were just too small for my liking) and would take them out of the box and had each driver sign the hood of each.  I remember giving my #43 car to Richard Petty and told him to sign the hood, he apparently didn't hear me (he's kind of deaf due to all those years of loud engines) and he signed the roof.

If I were to go in my basement and get all those signed items, i could rake in the $$$ on ebay.

Jay, email me your address from my website and I'll send ya some pics.  The real pics on my drive are much larger than the ones I put on the web site---I shrink them down so it wouldn't take two weeks to load up the images when you pull the site up.
