Accelerator cable

Chris, Do you carry throttle cables? The one in my truck started binding up ('85 V8 cable). I went to the local store to get one, what they have is about 4" longer than the old one. I looked on Advance Auto's website they show it as 21 1/4" long (which is what my old one is) Took the part number to the store, opened the box & it too is 25" long. This will work, but it is all twisted up looking like it's a few inches too long, oh yea it is! Just wondering if anyone has a solution? Thanks, Lorne

i would try the/a dealer for these things---throttle cable, return springs etc.  They are engineered right, and "mundane" stuff like that is usually pretty cheap--even considering it's from a dealer.

Also, the salvage yard.

I don't have cables.  I would check the dealership.  The do have some slack in them though ( doesn't go straight out to the carb )

Ok Thanks, Yea I realize there is a little slack. The old one just looks more correct, what seemed strange was the listing for the length was the same as my old one, but in both boxes were about 4" longer. They probably found that they could cover more years/engines/models ect. with the one a little longer. I may check out the dealer. Thanks, Lorne

most likely so.  The length isn't that important as much as the connectors.

You sure you didn't get a six banger cable in the box? They were quite a bit longer than the V8 cable.

I had the same problem Lorne.  I tried every aftermarket place around here - Pep Boys, NAPA, Advanced, Auto Zone, Car Quest..... all too long.  I finally went with a Spectre / Universal Braided Stainless Throttle Cable Kit, I bought at Auto Zone - worked like a champ, and looks good to
