Now, Let's Sue OPEC... (instead of getting our own oil)
« on: May 21, 2008, 08:55:20 am »
:) I read on drudge that the House of Representatives wants to sue OPEC for price fixing. Now isn't that just wonderful, The same people that won't let us drill for our own oil or build new refineries is going to sue other countries because gas is too expensive. Why can't we elect people with brains?

Actually, I don't think the treehuggers have anything to do with the no-drilling in US, it's not like treehuggers have control of anything, at all.

Current, as well as past administrations, want to have a large reserve in the US for times of dire need.  If we get cut-off from foreign oil and we have nothing to fall back on, we're in pretty bad shape.  Bush's administration wants a large reserve.

The tree huggers (enviromentalists)have shutdown one of the largest oil reserves in the US ( Alaska) . We have large amounts of oil reserves right here, and I know we need to hang on to it as long as possible, but at the rate of technology, we will be without the need for fossil fuels before we know it, and then we will be sitting on large amounts of something that is not used much, kinda like coal is now. Think about it, it was about a hundred years ago that we were still using horse and buggy to get around, and now look where we are. I am not saying we need to destroy our enviroment, but there are ways to tap into our reserves without much damage to the enviroment. I have worked in areas that one site tapped into 5 or 6 areas for well production. The technology is there, why don't we use it, or can everyone here afford $8 dollar gas. With the money we send overseas, to rebuild and help countries that will turn around as soon as they can and stab us in the back, we can come up with alternatives to fossil fuels. I support this wonderful nation and everything our troops are doing. They are keeping the battle away from our front yards, and I will forever be greatful for them, past, present, and future. But why are we sending our money to China (Who doesn't support our economy, and the other place( I can't pronounce the name) that got hit by the tsunami wave, and their government doesn't even want our help. We don't need to beg someone who needs help, to let us help. The offer is on the table, take it or leave it. I feel for the people there, and my heart goes out to them, but these are the same people who come over here, and insist on flying their flag. If you want to fly anything other than an American flag, then go back and fly it where it belongs. I am sorry if I offend anyone, I have no intentions on doing so. This is just my opinion, and should only be taken with a grain  of salt. This is a wonderful country we live in because we can have discussions like these, and not have to worry about being sent to prison.
