Shaved 80-
Might be able to help you with part of your problem...all 67-72 in cab gas tanks were 20 gallon tanks. I dont have the dimensions on them...just threw my old one out. As for the sending unit, if i remember correctly, there is only one wire that goes to it so that almost has to be power source for the sending unit. Hope this helps.

Keep in mind if you do this to your truck that there were 2 different size filler necks too for these. 67-70 used a 1 and 1/2 inch filler neck and the 71-72 trucks used a 2 inch neck. Some 69-70 trucks were fitted with the bigger 2" neck too so make sure you measure it before you buy the rubber grommet that goes on the outside of the cab.

thanks, i got the dimensions on fullsizechevy, it's about 1.5" inches too tall to fit in the bed like i had planned, so i'll probably just get a custom made tank

You can always use a Blazer tank, or a fuel cell in the back..

See if you can find one to take a look at. If i recall correctly, they have a mounting flange all around them that you might be able to remove that might give you the size you need.
