Suburban 40 Gal Gas Tank

Would the Suburban rear gas tank (from a '73) bolt in my '77 Crew Cab? From my understanding the rear of the Crew cab frame is narrower or are they the same as any '73-87 truck, sub or blazer? Thanks!

The framerails width is the same, it should go in there, with some fabrication.

Capt Since this was brought up, would that be true for a LWB K25 Fleetside?
Have been thinking about doing this on my truck, to get rid of te saddle tanks and so I can add some rocker sliders(Have heard there already being offered, but I can't find them)....

Hey Capt., sorry to dig this one out of the file cabinet but.......I'm just curious on how you ran the filler neck and fuel lines. I figure the inside of the frame rail on the passenger side will be that best option for the fuel and return lines. What kind of vehicle did this go into? Do you have any pics of the finished product? Thanks

I always thought it would be cool to have a suburban with dual 30 gallon tanks lol
But then gas got over $3 a gallon and it quickly seemed like more of a novelty

I haven't ran the fill lines for it yet. I would rather not disclose how it will run, but I can tell you how to get it out to the outside. I am going to bend up some pipe and runn it outside the frame.

I just put one in a Crew Cab 4x4, and I installed the filler neck on the passenger side inner fender, inside the bed. I was able to use the original filler neck and cap, just had to buy a new hose from the tank to the neck. I'll get a picture of it.

Yes, Capt please disclose as much info as you can without giving the secret away. 1hi4x4 please do provide pics, I have a tank that I would like to put in my truck but do not want to run the filler up through the bed floor. I would rather run it through the rear section of the sideside basically cutting out the filler door and welding it to the rear section. Pics would be great.

OJOE on here did the same thing. His door is on the outside behind the rear wheels.
he just ran a tube from the filler to the outside and moved the gas door to the new location.
