That sucks. Thumbs up for being the bigger man and not stooping to his level. That guy will get his in the end, karma always wins.

"Vengence is mine sayeth the Lord" True saying, and your handleing it right, yeah when I was your age I would have overhauled his tail right on the spot, but now a days, you can't do that.(nor was it right then though) In the past when you got into a confrontation, the were some knuckel sandwiches delivered, and most of the time you wound up with a friend, or at least one less problem. Now, everyone wants to sue. It has come to the point that if you get into a fight and win, you still have to get to the police first to file an assault report, before the other guy does or you go to jail for defending yourself. His will come around.
As far as the paint is concerned, depends on how deep it is. Regaurdless like everyone said, the miracle scratch removers arn't all that miraclulous. Your judgment is required on the depth of the scratch. At minimal, you may be able to colorsand it since you said you have extra clearcoat applied, but I agree with the rest. Take it to the shop and have them tell you the best fix.
