As Vile said 208's for street or mild off road / plowing they are fine, I have run many of them in my plow trucks over the years. Have 4wheeled them too. I have blown a few up. The 205 is gear driven so its heavier duty is all.

My truck has over 400,000 on it and the NP208 is the only part on that whole truck that hasnt been rebuilt or replaced. I use mine off road and haul horses with it.

wow. thats a lot of miles. but the 208 is the only orignal thing still going huh? ill only be using mine to plow, minor off road and to haul car trailers, so i should be ok for now, until i put a lift in it.

Make sure you keep it full of oil. Thats what kills them. People let them run low of oil. My rear seal tends to leak. I replaced it but it still leaks a bit.
Yes the Transfer case and the body(sheet metal is still original but everything and I mean everything else has been replaced or rebuilt.
