1 ton tire/wheel size?
« on: July 06, 2008, 08:46:41 am »
Hello,
I'm new to your forum and just picked up a new to me 83 1 ton Scottsdale. Big Brown I've named her.
She started life as a diesel but was recently converted to 454 with 400 trans. The truck is unique in that the previous owner installed a  4 spd auxilary from a BIG TRUCK :o. I'll post some pics when I get the truck to the house.
My question has to do with tires and wheels. I've found a set of wheels from a 08 1 ton. They are 17". Is there any reason not to go with the bigger wheels. I'm not sure what is originally on the truck. I'm assuming 15 maybe 16 inch. Thanks for your help. Im in AZ and will go retrieve the truck this week. Its been sitting and in need of batt and tires.

Thanks

My 85 has 16's but I believe my old 78 had 16.5 but tires were really hard to find for that thing. The 17's should be fine

Welcome from West Texas. It originally had 16s I'm sure, but the 17s should fit fine. You will have to get the proper nuts if you want to use the center caps. One of the guys here can tell you where to get them.
