I know a performer intake wont hurt mpgs, and they are much cheaper than the aluminum tbi intake. Also,a performer should give a boost in low rpm torque.I dont see were some portwork on the exhaust side will hurt anything,it should help with some extra power, and the millage shouldnt suffer much.Im thinking of a compucam.I been doing some research, and they say it really increases bottom end torque,AND mpg.The headers are coming pretty soon,i hope, along with a throttle body spacer, and a computer chip.

Ive read some throttle body spacers are good for some extra mpg,1 mpg is better than nothin.

I heave heard the same thing. Can someone here explain to me why a throttle body spacer helps to increase gas mileage?

They raise the TBI up helping the distribution of the fuel to the cylinders.  TBI spacers are good from adding some mpg and some power.
http://www.cfm-tech.com has been popular lately with the ones they have.

If you get one thats 1 and a half inches thick, or maybe even 2 inches thick, do you run into any clearance problems?

1" would be safe I am sure, I would measure for anything larger than that.  Move it up WILL require an adapter to lengthen the supply/Return lines, they have those also.

How exactly would you measure? Can't exactly do it with the hood closed.

stack some eggs on the air filter housing---stack em up 2 inches high and slam the hood.  See if they are scrambled afterwards.

Really, put a small box or something on the cleaner and close the hood.

Do you have a digital camera with a timer?  set it on 10 seconds inside the engine compartment and close the hood.
