from reno nv
« on: September 05, 2008, 05:29:45 pm »
hey everyone, names doreena and I'm originally from fairbanks alaska but moved down to reno a few years ago. Had a 73 back in alaska but sold it to my brother before moving cause i figured i couldn't really afford the gas on the drive down and needed the money.  So i don't have another truck yet. Right now I'm in search of a 73-79 fleetside short bed Chevy 4x4.  Theres few i found off craigslist around the area but I'm a little scared of getting myself into a crap truck and end up regretting it later. I want a truck that i can put a little work into but not one thats going to leave me hanging out on the side of the road and one the doesn't have a lot of body rust. Anyways i signed up hoping that if i had any questions people here would be able to help me out!

Welcome to the site.  Being in Reno you "should" have no problem finding a rust-free or clean truck.  You really can't go wrong with these as they are simple to work on.  This site is the best for needed advise.

thanks for the warm welcome!  I have two trucks in the area right now. Was wondering if anyone wanted to take a look at the links and tell me what they think about them off the bat.. I know theres not much info but just from first glance is there anything I should worry about? Also is there any questions you guys can think of that i should ask when going to look at them?

Based on the info and pics, I would lean to the Black one, IF it really does have 1T running gears.  BUT this means Dana44 front and Corporate 14bolt, and they would be 8 lug.

Welcome from New Hampshaa. I too would lean toward the Black truck. If its 1 ton it will have a Dana 60 front end.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
