Can I do this?
« on: September 09, 2008, 11:29:55 am »
I have a '76 GMC. I love the way my truck sits, but I also like the aggressive look of the BF Goodrich Krawler T/A tires.

Can I get the tire look I want without lifting my truck? (My truck calls for 235/75 17 nothing higher) Any help or advice is welcomed!

Are you asking if you can put taller tires on the truck?  If so, you can probably get away with 30" or 31" on a stock 2WD.

With that said, Krawlers only come in 35" and 37" sizing, so no you wouldn't be able to use them in particular, but I sure you can find just as Aggressive Tread Patterns in another brand that makes 30-31's....

I too like the Krawlers Tread Design, the downside to an Agressive Pattern, is usually the added road noise with them on pavement, decrease in tread life, and Gas Mileage, when they are driven regularly on-road as opposed to offroad(Not really the best for a truck that can see daily use, atleast those are my concerns)....

Yeah they're a bit more tamer in their tread patterns, and even come in 30-31" sizes, but their Street handling & noise leaves something to be desired....  I have BFG M/T's on my truck, and it rides too hard compared to other truck tires I have had....

I dont have any experience with the new km2s but from what I have read on them, they are supposed to be pretty good all the way around, just quiet. I like hearing my tires roaring a little.

I disagree.  The noise is awesome.  Rolling down the road in a truck with big manly tires that are roaring "RRRAAAAAAAAWWWW" is just fricken awesome!

The only thing I DON'T like about mud tires is stopping in the rain.  That problem is solved by a big steal bumper ;D
