73-80 Bedside Trim Measurment
«
on:
September 19, 2008, 05:32:21 pm »
Would someone with factory stock 73-80 trim go out and measure the distance from the top edge of the upper piece to the top edge of the bottom piece at the cab end of the bed? My body shop guy says he's layed a hundred of them, but just want to make sure before he does it.
Thanks,
Chip

I told you to keep those scrap fenders
If they are still there I will check them out...

I thought I'd ask for the measurement at the bed where it meets the cab. Everything needs to match up there.
If it is the same where the fender meets the the door, that'll do.

The top should follow the body line, the rest should fall into place as they can only go one way. The front section that wraps around the marker should dictate how low it will go, just make it even from there...
Did you bed not have the trim.

Nope, years ago replace my old rusty dented one with a mid-80's model.

The guy is probably going to want to lay out the lines this week. I think I need measurements at the locations indicated. Anyone have the numbers?

Ok, Hotrod24 gave me the main measurement right at the back of the cab, 18in.
Now, I just need the measurement right behind the back wheel well, top of top moulding to top of bottom moulding (that should give me the center to center dist)
Getting there, thanks guys!

ccz145a- The measurement at the rear of the front fender is 14 5/8" from the top of the upper to the top of the lower piece. I get the same measurement on the bed at the back cab. Behind the wheel opening at the rear of the bed it is 11 7/8" from the top of the upper to the top of the lower piece.
Let me know if that is all you need.

Let me go look again. I have no idea where there is an 18" span.
I just double & triple nmeasured. I'll stick with what I gave you before.
