Need Help.
« on: September 29, 2008, 12:44:00 pm »
I am having a little bit of trouble out of my 93 chevy 2500 and was wondering what all could be done if a older model v8 chevy motor could be put in with all the  componets and computer, such as keeping the original intake and all where the sensors are at? could anyone help and let me know if this can be done and if so are there any things I may need to watch for? Thanks

Are you smogged where you are?  If so, general rule is you can swap to a newer motor, but not an older.  It is possible to do it, but the intake would have to be modified for anything prior to 1986.  How much older are you talking about?  what is wrong with it.?

I have a 1976 block bored .30 mild cam, No sir I am not smog and as far as whats wrong with it number 1 is about 35 less than all the rest of the cylinders but it still runs and I can drive it, but when starting up it shakes terrible, you can push the gas and it will clear up till you are at an idle again but will resume with any stoping period of 1 min or so. Idk im not a mechanic but have pretty good idea I replaced everything that I possibly could but the throttle body and distributor but the throttle bottle was rebult so if anyone has any ideas help please lol thanks for any advice
