Shifter light question
« on: October 18, 2008, 02:35:30 pm »
I'm ready to reinstall my 4x4 shifter cover.  There's a little light bulb under there.  Does anyone know if that little light is supposed to come on any time the truck lights are on?  Or is it supposed to only come on when the truck is shifted into 4-wheel drive?

Also, there is a little plastic hole where the bulb is supposed to be inserted.  It looks like one of those deals where you push the plastic part that holds the bulb in and turn it to lock the bulb and bulb housing in place.  The problem is that no matter how you put the little bulb into it's "socket" it does not turn and will only push in one way.  All I can figure is that it was glued into place from the factory?  I do know that when I took it out the bulb (wires, etc) was just laying there on the carpet.

I was wondering if anyone had any information on this little light bulb?  How it works, how you connect it, etc.

Thanks!

It should just come on when your truck is in 4 wheel drive i had the same problem but it should go from your indicater to the back of the cluster and the indicater screws in to the shifter.

I fooled around with it for a while and finally got it working right.  It actually comes on whenever the headlights are turned on.

Thanks!
