Let's talk... cupholders?
« on: October 23, 2008, 12:53:44 pm »
My truck has the common bench seat, therefore no center console with built-in cupholders.  What options are there for an item as mundane, yet practical as a cupholder?  For those of you who have found solutions for adding this useful item in your cab, what are you using?  Descriptions and pictures?

There's a cupholder out there that slides into the ashtray slot.  Not sure who sells it, but maybe Chris can get ahold of one for you.

But then what do you do for your smokes ?  ::)

I was thinking cut a hole (if its not AC) in the dash pad by the plastic plate (not sure of its name) and making one to slide in the vent hole there..

But smoking is bad for you and makes your truck stink.  Instead, do something good for yourself and use that slot to hold your drink; maybe some nice, healthy V8 juice... :P

Why not one of those consoles that sit on the seat in the middle good for storage and cup holder I think I've seen those at like walmart or parts store but you loose seating space.

I have these that you hide in a slot:

As for me, I have one of those plastic cup holder things sitting on the trans tunnel.
I don't have pics, but I can get some.

Huh, what do you know, I found them:

http://www.metropartsmarket.com/catalog/image_console_15037.html

I've never seen one of these before for our trucks.  I have seen the ones that fit in the 67-72 trucks.  Y'all have given me some ideas, though, and maybe I can make one.  In the old days I used to buy those that sit on the trans hump as described by Chris.

Chris, the ones you sell that hide in a slot, have you seen any of them mounted in a 73-87?  If so, where were they mounted?

Those are cool - Are they hard to install?

I'm also interested in the cup holders that Chris sells. Where do they mount?

For some reason I didn't see this reply.
They mount from the front with screws and have to have a "void" area behind them.
