« on: October 24, 2008, 01:03:55 pm »
I have a cobra 25 in my 04'and a cobra 29 in my one ton. I just bought a Galaxy DX 94 HP for my big truck(I drive a coal bucket)
Both my Cobras have bigger finals, Talk back and conex boards. The 25 has 23 watts and the 29 has the limiter cliped, it has 50 watts
The 94 has 100 watts. On side band it has 200 watts.

Galaxy and Cobra's were always a Good Affordable Radios, just sounds lie you need to get your new one Tuned for Maximum Performance.....

I would suggest a Good FireStik Antenna or two for help with giving it a better range....

Generally I like those Brands, but I've also like a Good Midland as well....   All of my Buddies have Midland's, as well as the Majority of my Local Law Enforcement Agencies, so I know they are pretty good, and even better when tuned.....   My '77 came with an Old Motorola CB/AM/FM Radio Deck in the Factory Location, so I wouldn't mind trying to get that working again for a bit of Nostalgia....

The Galaxy is in the Zuk and the Conex is in the 97z71 the others are stuck away in hideing.
I got my first one at 13 and just turned 46 and have post cards from all around the world.

Dragon,I used to have a tuneable firestick, but after braking it off on some trees I started buying Francis they where allot cheaper and great right out of the package they didn't need tuning. Then the broad that owns the cb shop I go to turned me on to Browning antennas (they are like a monkey made)  so I tryed the smaller coil one and for 30 bucks you can't beat them! Even with all the power of the 94HP they are great across all bands (I had the tech at the CB shop check my RSWR's today and he was impressed on how well it worked on USB and LSB's) I had a Magnum s-3 that I sold for $135. to help finance the $400. 94 HP. And yes all my radios are tuned, But the 94HP that has enough power.

Dumpbucket, don't the mines and the scales talk on the radios? I can't stand not having a radio turned on going down the road. yea I seen your old freight shaker avatar before. Looks like you have a 45ft. train car on the back. I drive a 2000 binder 9900XI (extended hood Eagle) 550 Cat 13 speed, and a 2006 33 ft. East Gensis smooth side. I run the road mostly hauling Ohio coal to Pa and Pa coal or coke back to Ohio, When I do haul out of the local mine in Ohio we haul to the barge on the Ohio river, usually about 30-35 ton a round.

ya my screen name is supposed to really be dumpbucket1 but I typo'd when I made it and never got it fixed.

the coal mines I haul out of are completely automated. You swipe a credit card, hit the weight you want, and where your going, then pull under a loading shute and it comes down, then you move slowly forward till your loaded. In my avatar Im getting loaded with sand which I only haul on rare occasions.

Actually the truck in my avatar is a 2007 mack bulldog. It has a 13 speed also. the trailer is a 48' end dump.

I would rather listen to cd's than listen to all the useless ramble on the cb. Like I dont care where the bears are because I drive the speed limit and safely.
