Pics of my truck at silver lake closing weekend
« on: October 28, 2008, 10:44:20 pm »
Last weekend was the last one for the dune season at silver lake until next April when the open back up.  The weather was horrible, windy, cold and rain.  I ran into some bad hail on the way home that had me pretty nervous about the paint but seems to be ok.  (still need to wash it)  I almost lost it on the way up, a lady pulled out in front of me going 55, jacknifed back and fouth about 8 times but saved it.  I think the closest call I have ever had.  I just bought that camper too.  But, it was still a great weekend and a great time  ;D

That's an awesome truck man! ;D  Pretty too!  I love the trucks that get fixed up and people still use them like they're suppopsed to!

Amen Brother!  That's why we have 'em, huh?   Those pics are really cool, especially the one like it is sittin' on water.

Ditto  ;)

Hows your drawers?  I've had that happen to me towing my travel trailer.  Not a fun experience.  Great adrenalin rush though.  Glad to see you were able to pull it together ;)

No, there were quite a few for a closing weekend but most people headed out Sunday morning.  I was at the beach for maybe 15 minutes when I took that picture and I never saw anyone, but it's a big place.

It was kind of strange acutually.  I remained completly calm and kept fighting it.  I was even talking to my wife telling her to get ready for an impact etc.  I usually get all nerved up in a situation like that.  I was thinking more about this today, how exactly do you miss a lifted truck pulling a trailer with lights on including 5 cab lights???  She couldn't have possibly even looked in my direction ??? And for her sake she is lucky I missed her, my bumper lined up with here drivers window area, would not have been good for her.

She saw you pulling the trailer, so obviously you were going slower then everyone else, and she didn't want to be behind you.  I have a buddy that drives a dump truck, and he has that happen all the time.  It usually results in him passing the other person on a hill because he has a supped up Kenworth, and being a professional driver, he isn't dogging it when he doesn't have to.

The day I bought my '77 K20 and was driving it home I had someone pull out in front of me and I had to lock it up.  Fortunately my dad behind me saw it happen otherwise he would have hit me with my company van.  Wouldn't have been a pretty site.

I was going northbound, she was at a crossroad, stopped, turning to go southbound and pulled out in front of me as if the road was clear of traffic.
