I plan on doing them eventually myself, but for the most part if you have  newer bulbs, and an updated Headlight harness, then even the old sealed beam bulbs are decent.....   One of the Upgrades I usually do when I get a vehicle, is upgrade to Sylvania Xtra Vision Bulbs, as they will give you up to three times the brightness, and last 2-6x's the life of a traditional bulb....  The best part is, chances are you can use the stock harness(If undamaged or not brittle),they are 100% Street Legal, and won't break your Budget....  I have some in my '96 Caprice, that is known for having poor lighting, and I've had people comment on how bright they are....

Most do the Conversion for the overall updated look of the Light area....  If you do eventually do the conversion, I would suggest that you also upgrade to a New Wiring Harness...  That way you will get the best results from the Conversion, without having to go to the Blinding, and sometimes Illegal Xenon Lamp Conversion....
