But the 4L80E requires a stand alone controller. If you could find a 90-91 TBI 454 setup with 4L80E you could upgrade the trans and the injection system. My 1991 CREW has this but with a 350 and gets 17mpg on the highway.

This is my first post,so please bear with me,I'm building a 1985 Chevy Crewcab Dually from the ground up.I;m building a 454 for it,it has a Turbo 400 in it now,its geared 4:10,I need overdrive!Any thought or ideas?As inexpensive as possible,I plan on towing a gooseneck horse trailer with it and my jeep as well.Not at the same time,lol.thanx for the advice.P.S.My name is Tim,I live in NC,Pleased to meet everyone
