If it moves in the 4 hi (not 4 lock) position with the hubs unlocked, it's been converted. Once converted, the Hi position is now 2wd. The Lock positions are now 4wd. You also now can put it in Lo for 2wd low range as well. Don't run it on *dry* pavement in the Lock positions, because you'll bind things up and possibly start breaking things. For normal driving leave it in Hi with the hubs free. However, once in a while lock the hubs and drive it a few miles to splash the oil around in the diff and lube up the axles.
