I would install a couple of screws in carb linkage so that secondaries open manually, but i don`t think you will be happy with results.

On the shift problem,my brother once welded a section of steel angle iron to the shifter, making it longer and providing more leverage so he could muscle it into gear........................the truck ran for a while.....................sitting now..................

The secondaries aren't allowed to open if the choke isn't opened fully. You will see a stop mechanism preventing the secondaries from opening. Make sure the linkage is routed correctly to allow the to open when the choke is open.

AS far as your transfercase shifting, check the linkage and lubricate it first.

Don't forget to adjust the shifter linkage too.
