85' C10
« on: October 16, 2012, 07:18:04 pm »
I recently purchased a 1985 C10. Truck is currently with the factory 305 engine. I'm wondering if a Chevy 350 4 bolt main with fit right in and work with the current factory transmission?

There is no difference between any small block Chevy of any cubic displacement, all of them interchange, the only gotchas are the 86-up 1 piece seal, and then the only difference is a different flywheel.
The number of main bolts are not a factor.

The dipstick is on the right hand sisde of the motor for a one piece rear main seal. Its on the left hand side for a two piece rear main seal motor.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

If you plan to use a mechanical fuel pump you'll want to make sure the block is prepped for it.  All blocks have the outside mounts, but not all are drilled through.
