bounce stall
« on: March 06, 2007, 07:26:00 pm »
I've been having an ongoing problem with my 85 1 ton (454, original Rochester).

Sometimes when I bounce the truck hard (bad railroad tracks, etc) it sputters and stalls out.  It does not happen everytime I hit a bad bump, but it never stalls otherwise.  I obviously try to keep things from getting too bumpy, but it happens.

It acts kind of like it has flooded, because it will usually start back up after having a few minutes to breath....but a lot of the time, once it starts again it won't hold an idle, but I can keep it running if I keep the RPMS up....which makes me think it might be a vacuum leak, even though if I don't hit a bump it idles fine.

Any ideas of what to look for?  Thanks

Your float level is incorrect. Replace the needle and seat and adjust the float level and float drop. If you do a lot of offroading use a spring loaded neddle
