Leaking Edelbrock fuel filter. Dried out?

85 Chevy SWB FS 2wd mild 350. I haven't driven it in a month to 5 weeks or so. Not started the motor either. I fired it up yesterday and found that my 1-1.5 year old aluminum Edelbrock fuel filter with replaceable cartridge was dripping quite a bit of gas, right onto my valve cover over my headers   I took it off, took it apart, cleaned it out and put it back on the drip was still there. Did the rubber O-ring perhaps dry out in that month of non-use? Freaked me out since that is obviously a potential fire waiting to happen. It was leaking right where the 2 halves screw together and are sealed with an O-ring. It didn't LOOK warped or anything but who knows.

I hate those fuel filters. Just get a clear 3/8" fuel filter.

i don't think there bad- just try a new rubber o-ring

Any idea where I could find just the O ring? Would it be anything special? I ended up buying just a regular canister-type Fram filter for a whopping $4 and it did the trick. But I don't want to waste the $20 Edelbrock just because of a bad O ring.

just take the old o-ring out and go to ne napa or advnaced autos etc... and they should be able to get a o-ring- i dont think they are ne thing special...just a old standard oring

Some o-rings will not work with fuel and solvents. If the're made of the wrong material they will swell up. And leak.
