New Motor?

I have an '87 Custom Deluxe with a 305 TBI, and I'm looking for a 350 to drop in. I found one for $850 on craigslist. The ad said it was baked and blasted, bored .040 over, and for the cam: 204 intake ,214 exhaust duration @.050

I was looking at another one, and it was a two bolt main. How big of a differnce would it be between a 2 and 4 bolt main? Should a avoid a 2 bolt?

2 bolt can still handle some serious power. i wouldnt be worried about it.

There's nothing worng with a 2 bolt. I wouldn't hesitate to build a 2 bolt 350. In fact I've seen more 4 bolt main failures than 2 bolt.

I found another one on craigslist, but I think I want the bored over one just because then I won't complain about not having a bored out engine later down the road ;D

Having a bored engine is not all that advantageous.  Sure you increase the displacement slightly, but, if it is bored out over .30, that just means in the future, to smooth out the bores upon next rebuild of the block, you won't be able to bore it out too much more.

I found the one I'll be buying. I'm pretty sure it runs, but if not that's okay. The guy is going to let it go for $100. My dad has rebuilt tons of motors, so it's going to be a father/son project. I might paint the inside of the engine compartment when I pull the 305, to make it look nicer.

If you are rebuilding a 350, make it a 383!

It would be wonderful if you could explain to me how I would add 33 to my displacement ;)

A 383 is a 350 block with a 400 crankshaft (3.75" stroke).  There are tons of stroker kits out there for a wide variety of budgets.  Here's a bit of info: 383 Stroker FAQ.

Swaping from a 305 TBI to a 350 TBI will require some upgrades
google the 305 to 350 swap before you get too deep into it
it's not a plug and play deal (it is if you do the right upgrades, research before you wrench)

Fueling a 383 TBI is tricky to say the least
