350 Rebuild
« on: January 04, 2009, 01:11:06 pm »
Hi guys, I am new to this forum. some of the topic I have read here seem informative. I recently rebuild a 350 and I am about to start it up, just that i was told by a buddy that I had to prime the engine first with oil before turning it on. The oil is in the engine but he said that i had to pump the oil pump using a drill. He was not specific on how to perform it so I rather take my chances with you guys and maybe get better information here.

Gut a old distributor stick the end down into the oil pump shaft and attach the top to a drill go clockwise with the drill till oil comes to the top.

I think they actually have a tool for it but that is a "home remedy"

or just make your own like suggested or use a pump connected to an oil passage.
