« on: February 03, 2009, 04:31:26 PM »
im considering purchasing a 6 inch lift for my 77 k10. What all extra stuff do i need like brake lines etc. and whats the best,-cost effective kit??? What problems might i run into, and expect? The cheapist i found was a rancho kits from 4x4groupbuy.com for $450 that seems cheap but it says comes with kit and shocks

I highly recommend getting the rear springs instead of blocks, some good extended brake lines, and an over the spring steering link.

Ride, stability, looks. Go with the springs if you can afford it.

Its a whole world of difference. It looks better, rides better, all around better. Save the $200 bucks and get them. Or, I will send you $200 and my blocks and bolts, and you can send me the springs. LOL With blocks, look at it this way. When you romp on it, the axle twists. Now, picture a pipe wrench on the axle. The higher you grab on the handle the more you can twist it, the lower, not so much. Do you want to twist the tar out of your axle, or want it to mainain where its supposed to be? It would be a very good investment for $200, becuase I am looking at close to $400 just to get the rear springs now. I someone know where to get them cheaper, please let me know.

I agree with the above.  Get the springs in the rear.

If this will be primarily for street use, Id get the sway bar brackets. If you find them, lemme know. I need to order a set myself, but have had a hard time locating them.

I would not go with the Rough Country kit myself. I have one in my 75 gmc 4x4 the front springs are saging with only 5000 miles on it. And most of the miles are street. just my opinion
