Hey Chris- A/C question
« on: June 01, 2009, 05:51:51 pm »
high pressure side hose for the rear AC on my 91 Burb has a leak- where around Bham can I get one made using my ends- or is there a good supplier of such parts?  Couldn't find it in  - only a pic, which I'm sure means it's pretty much a dealer item.  I figured I should be able to get one made, my ends are fine.  I heard Birmingham Hose Shop, and maybe Kent's Trucking- both downtown, might be able to do it.  Gonna call around tomorrow.  Anybody else?

couldn't find a # for Kents- and the other place doesn't do it.  they did direct me to Estes Automotive on southside- 5th ave s and 23rd.  the replaced both hoses for $120.  they told me it would be $15 per weld and around $5 per foot of hose, so i guess this was reasonable, as i prob couldn't get one from the dealer too easily, and certainly not for that.  they did tell me they thought that they were the only ones in town that do this kind of work.

I was thinking Kurts Trucks, and I just remember BRAG http://www.bragusa.com
Of course this is too late now.  I would say that is pretty fair.

Around  this area, most NAPA stores have the crimp tools and the correct hoses to make that repair, and they are pretty reasonable on the price. We also have.... stone heavy vehicle, brakes inc.,just to name a few, i think any heavy vehicle shop can repair it as they do alot of hydraulic hoses. I think you will have to repair it as i don't think its available from  GM anymore.
 Good luck,
Chris

i was gonna check Kurts, i think I wrote Kents but it's Kurts, but didn't get to them.  i was told today there's a place in downtown Bessemer close to Simmons sporting goods that might do it also- just for future reference, i think it was Don's something or other.
